An alert red fox (Vulpes vulpes) hunts along the shoreline of a snow-covered lake, near the Arctic circle in Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge, northwest of Fairbanks, Alaska. Using accute hearing, foxes hunt for small rodents moving under the snow.
