Missing Nothing....

A female Snowy Owl sits in deep snow, watching for prey. Females have horizontal, dark bars across their chests and dark spots on wings. Preferred diet for Snowy Owls is Lemmings. They consume between 3 and 5 a day, depending on availability and dietary needs. Irruptions of Snowy owls occur as far south as New York, Minnesota and Montana in years when the Lemming population is low or when the crust on the snow makes it difficult to sieze prey. In those years Snowy Owls will rely on other small rodents, birds and fish for nutritional requirements.
