Spermophilus parryi. Found throughout Alaska, Arctic ground squirrels can survive in alpine and arctic tundra, in bushy meadows, riverbanks, lakeshores, and sandbanks. They hibernate in the winter and use stored food after awakening while waiting for spring plants to grow.
