St George Island, Alaska
High Bluff, St George Island in the Bering Sea. St George is home to roughly 150 year-round human residents
as well as Arctic fox, Snowy owls, literally millions of nesting seabirds and thousands of breeding fur seals. Frequently shrowded in fog and the foul weather of the Bering Sea, on those rare days when the weather is clear the island reveals itself as an emerald gem of lush vegetation, teaming with wildlife. High Bluff, pictured here, rises hundreds of feet above the ocean; its shear rock faces are covered with ledges and indentations that are perfect nest sites for Kitiwakes, Murs, Fulmars and Auklets.
