MT REDOUBT BLOWS ITS TOP......
In March of 2009, Mount Redoubt, located in the Alaska Range southwest of Anchorage, exploded into life, sending steam and ash billowing 50,000ft into the atmosphere. After the initial event, the mountain continued to churn out smoke and ash, with more than 20 notable eruptions by mid-April. Significant ash fall made outdoor activities risky over much of the Kenai peninsula as well as in the Anchorage area. Air traffic into and out of Alaska was significantly impacted. This image was captured 4/11/2009, on one of the few clear days since the mountain first erupted.
