Less than 24 hours old, these 2 moose calves were pretty unsteady when they walked. Moose are particularly vulnerable to predation in the first week after birth. To increase chances of survival, most moose births in any given area occur within a short period in Spring. While predators are busy harvesting some calves others have a chance to get strong enough to flee.
