Abstract
Moose / Caribou - Image Description

Baby Long Legs

Born in late May, Moose calves generally weigh 30-50 pounds at birth. Twins are common; triplets occur in roughly one of a thousand pregnancies. Predation by bears and wolves reduces first year survival rates to less than 30 percent in wild areas of Alaska. Surviving calves will weigh 300-400 pounds by autumn.
